CES 2010 was ever more memorable because of the debut of Panasonic’s Full HD 3D video camcorder. The Japanese Electronics giant has beaten the competition with the release of Panasonic 3D Camcorder. The release date scheduled by the company was Fall of 2010 in the US.
Pre-order of Panasonic Full HD 3D Camcorder started in April of 2010 but the product hasn’t been released in many countries as of this writing. With a reputed asking price of only $21,000, this marvelous evolutionary 3D capable videocam is causing ecstasy among independent film makers. With this affordable 3D rig, everybody has the chance to emulate what James Cameron was able to achieve with his December 2009 blockbuster masterpiece 3D movie, Avatar (which now has an Avatar Video Game version).

The Panasonic Full HD 3D camcorder is portable and light enough to carry around the shoulders of a single-man videographer. At less than 3kg, it is easy to use in hand-held camera work. This is very much unlike the current 3D camera setups being used by Hollywood directors like James Cameron. Current 3D filmmaking requires large-scale setup and prohibitively expensive!

Panasonic’s 3D videocam features twin 1080hp High Definition lenses and will record video on a standard SD/SDHC cards. Cheap Solid State recording medium like SD cards are proven to be more reliable than optical or Hard Disk drives. Independent film makers are prone to budget-constraints and this Panasonic Full HD 3D digital video camcorder will usher in a new chapter of movie-making. The current surge of cheap HD cameras has enabled freelance directors to create noteworthy short and full-length movies on a shoestring budget. But HD is still 2D and it’s becoming too common for comfort.
James Cameron’s 3D epic Avatar Movie is rumored to have cost more than $350 million to produce because of the expensive 3D work it was created with. Now Panasonic is offering its very affordable and portable Full HD 3D camera at only $21,000. This purchase is a great investment to produce cheap 3D movies. It is just pocket change for major studios and independent film makers can guild up and contribute money to purchase one unit of the Panasonic Full HD 3D camera. Expect a proliferation of 3D movies starting 2011 when other 3D digital video camcorder models come out in the market. 3D movies by then will also be much easier to create and produce.
