Latest Apple Rumour – 10 million tablets in year one

The latest Apple Tablet or iSlate rumour to be working its way round the Net is that Apple are planning to produce a whopping 10 million tablets in the first year.

Yes, here we are speculating about numbers and names when Apple hasn’t even announced the existence of the product yet. I mean it could all be complete fantasy couldn’t it?

The most recent Apple rumour was covered by PC World and apparently started with a blog post by former Google China President Kai-Fu Lee, who should know a bit about what he’s talking about as he once worked for Apple.

Ok so it was about 10 years ago but he’s more likely to be in the know than most of the rest of us as he will still have contacts within the company and all that.

That being the case, let’s just suppose that the rumour is true, 10 million tablets is quite an ambitious number of tablets for Apple.

If nothing else, they must be more than a little certain that they are on to a winner with their iSlate or whatever it’s going to be called.

I mean look at the iPhone, that really shook up the mobile industry and yet Apple only sold just over 5 million of them in the first year that they came out.

Apple really has captured the attention of all of us with their silence on the Apple Tablet, which by the way is reputed to be an all singing all dancing computer, iPod, Netbook, eReader and everything else you can think of rolled into one.

If Apple are planning on 10 million of them in 12 months, then what are they expecting us to do?

I mean we’re still buying up our netbooks and iPhones, MacBooks and iPods, eReaders and everything else. Does Apple really expect us to ditch whatever we have at the moment in favour of their new darling?

Yes of course they do.

They didn’t sit back and let the Netbook take over the market without having something up their sleeve, and they’re not about to produce something that does what the iPhone or the MacBook does already.

No the Apple Tablet has got to be a revolutionary device that will radically change the computing world unless of course we’re all letting our imagination run away with us.
