Toshiba today announced the A205-S4577, A205-S4617 and A205-S4639 laptop PCs, as the first models in the newly designed Satellite A205 15.4-inch widescreen multimedia notebook line. Select A205 mobile computers come with new features for Satellite A laptops, such as Intel’s draft 802.11n wireless connectivity, built-in webcam and Labelflash technology for inscribing labels onto DVD media.
Based on Mobile Intel 945GM/945PM chipsets, Toshiba Satellite A205 notebooks incorporate Intel Core 2 Duo processors, 1GB or 2GB of main memory, and up to 280GB of hard drive storage capacity, depending on model.
Toshiba Satellite A205-S4577 priced at $999 and Toshiba Satellite A205-S4617 for $1,349 are preconfigured with Core 2 Duo T5300 (1.73GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB) and T5500 (1.66GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB) processors, respectively. The A205-S4577 comes with 1GB of system memory and with 160GB 5400rpm Serial ATA hard drive, while the A205-S4617 has 2GB of RAM and 250GB 4200rpm SATA HDD. Both laptops feature Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with 8MB to 256MB of shared video memory empowering 15.4-inch 1280×768 screen. The more expensive model also incorporates Intel’s 802.11a/g/n wireless with the latest draft N standard and DVD burner with Labelflash technology and a fingerprint reader. Both laptops ship with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled.
The most expensive notebook in new A205 series is Toshiba Satellite A205-S4639 with Vista Ultimate priced at $1,549, which features Intel Core 2 Duo T5300, 2GB of RAM and two hard disk drives totaling 280GB of storage (120GB HDD+160GB HDD at 5400rpm). Toshiba’s A205-S4639 has dedicated GeForce Go 7300 graphics with 128MB of memory, instead of integrated Intel GMA950 and also features wireless N, Labelflash and fingerprint reader.
Toshiba Satellite A205 notebooks feature Ethernet LAN and 56k modem, harman/kardon stereo speakers, PC Card and ExpressCard slots, 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter, four USB ports, Fire-Wire, VGA and S-Video outputs.
The weight of A205s start at 6.29lbs. The new laptops have Onyx Blue Metallic lid and are available now at ToshibaDirect.
